I could easily veganize this recipe. The egg is absolutely not necessary.

I believe in the philosophy too. But I began the instant vegan journey when the doctors told me I had to cut out animal proteins or limit myself to one to two ounces a day. I did research and was HORRIFIED to find out all the cruelty of the animal husbandry industries. That did it. No turning back. However, as a Jew, some of the holidays are doable, but difficult. Pesach is a particular challenge. Anyway, this looks delicious and I will make them – my way. Thank you for your support. At my vintage age, I should be immune to people laughing at me or criticizes my lifestyle; clearly, I still get hurt. I have to work on that, too. I’m not hurting anybody. By the way, there are MANY challah recipes that do NOT have eggs. Just saying. Also, one never knows what is going on in another person’s life. It is best to shut honorable mouths before criticizing a choice.
